Topsham Crossing was awarded the "2004 Development of the Year" award by the Maine Association of Planners.  In addition, the National Association of Homebuilders recognized Topsham Crossing as one of the top twelve most innovative new neighborhoods in America.

Topsham Crossing is a Great American Neighborhood on 40 acres of forest land, nestled between Tedford Road and the Coastal Connector in Topsham, Maine.

Rich Cromwell, the developer, envisioned a neighborhood like he grew up in during the 50's in Bath.

It seemed like a risky proposition in a State where so many people want to live out in the country, but a study done by the State Planning Office indicated that 37% of 600 new homeowners who had purchased in outlying areas would have built in Town if they had had the opportunity. In other words, they would have preferred to live in a traditional neighborhood.

The second vision that has driven the planning for Topsham Crossing is affordability. So often new subdivisions are geared to very expensive homes. Topsham Crossing will have some expensive homes, but a measure of affordability has been planned in from the beginning. Only then will Topsham Crossing be a reflection of the communities and neighborhoods that surround it. Through affordability we are achieving the economic and social diversity so important in a neighborhood.
